An interesting snowplow

Postby SlasH1958 » Fri Feb 27, 2009 6:20 pm

Yesterday, I saw a NB Southern Railway snowplow unlike any other snowplow that I've seen before. It looked like a smaller version of a Switcher loco, but it had a V-plow on the front and a snowblower on the back. :?

It also seemed to have low-profile wings for pushing the snow back away from the track. I took a few profile pictures and I'm hoping to get a few more if I see it again. Anyway, if I can get enough information I'd like to model it.

I'll post pictures when I can. :)

Cheers,
Frank

UPDATE:
Ok, I spoke with my local hobby shop guru and he said that it is based on a traction engine, about half the size of a Switcher. He also said that the company likely put it together themselves with the industrial grade blade and blower. Has anyone else seen anything that sounds like that?

After checking his suppliers, he told me that he couldn't find one for me. He also said that there was only one place where he'd ever seen one for sale and it was an online-only supplier and it was over $100.

Anyway, I'll post the pictures when I learn how to do it.

Hi SlasH1958

I moved this post into rolling stock... I thought that category was more relevant. :)
